Chad has repatriated 162 of its nationals from Benghazi in eastern Libya, with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This operation, coordinated by Chadian consular authorities, was paired with a sensitisation campaign aimed at informing the Chadian community about residence conditions in Libya and the risks of irregular migration.

One hundred and sixty-two Chadian nationals returned to N’Djamena after leaving Benghazi in eastern Libya, thanks to a voluntary return operation coordinated by the Chadian government with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This initiative includes a sensitisation campaign to inform migrants about Libyan stay regulations and the dangers of irregular migration routes.

A group of 162 Chadian nationals arrived in N’Djamena under a voluntary return programme organised from Benghazi. The operation was managed by the Chadian government through its general consulate in Benghazi, with backing from IOM. This effort is part of ongoing actions by Chadian authorities to assist citizens facing difficulties abroad.

Awareness campaign for the Chadian community

During this operation, consular services held information sessions for Chadian nationals living in Benghazi. Discussions covered foreign residence rules in Libya and the risks of irregular migration. The stated goal is to better inform Chadian community members to reduce vulnerabilities and encourage compliance with legal procedures. Chadian authorities present this repatriation as one of several actions for protecting nationals abroad. They indicate that further support operations may be organised with international partners to address the needs of Chadian citizens overseas.
