Chad enforces ban on military-style uniforms for forestry agents

In a newly issued directive dated July 6, 2026, the Ministry of Environment, Fisheries, and Sustainable Development in Chad has formally prohibited forestry agents from wearing military-style attire, insignia, ranks, berets, or any other military-related insignia. The circular, signed by the Ministry’s Secretary-General, Koularambaye Koundja Julien, follows observations that several military personnel on assignment or reassignment, as well as some civilian employees, have been donning uniforms and insignia exclusive to the Chadian National Army (ANT). Officials have emphasized that violators will face disciplinary action. Heads of central and regional departments are tasked with ensuring strict enforcement of the ban, which takes immediate effect. Sahel juntas struggle as terror group tightens grip across region

Two years after the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) was hailed as a bold new chapter in regional sovereignty, the alliance’s facade is rapidly crumbling. Behind the defiant rhetoric of the military regimes in Bamako, Ouagadougou, and Niamey lies a harsh truth: the only truly coordinated armed force dictating the pace and striking at will remains the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM). The political amateurism and bombastic declarations of these military governments are now colliding head-on with the JNIM’s devastating efficiency. The jihadist network orchestrates large-scale, meticulously synchronized offensives, striking multiple strategic regions simultaneously and overwhelming even well-equipped national armies. Neither the theoretical pooling of intelligence resources wi...

The project’s scope includes the construction of a dual-circuit 225 kV transmission line spanning approximately 103 kilometers, linking key locations such as Kodialani, Kambila, Safo, and Dialakorobougou. Touaregs and arab malians pushing for northern independence

Touareg and Arab communities in Mali seek northern autonomy The Front de Libération de l'Azawad (FLA), a separatist alliance, has joined forces with the Jamaat Nusrat ul-Islam wal Muslimeen (JNIM)—an Al-Qaeda-linked group—to launch a fresh military campaign this weekend. Their goal: reclaim control over northern and central Mali, currently held by government forces. This renewed offensive follows two months after the FLA and JNIM executed coordinated strikes across Mali on April 25, targeting strategic locations in the north, center, and even reaching the outskirts of Bamako. The assaults shook the Malian government after gunfire echoed through Kati, a stronghold of military power, and claimed the life of Defense Minister Sadio Camara while critically injuring intelligence chief Mo...
