Chad enforces ban on military-style uniforms for forestry agents

In a newly issued directive dated July 6, 2026, the Ministry of Environment, Fisheries, and Sustainable Development in Chad has formally prohibited forestry agents from wearing military-style attire, insignia, ranks, berets, or any other military-related insignia.

The circular, signed by the Ministry’s Secretary-General, Koularambaye Koundja Julien, follows observations that several military personnel on assignment or reassignment, as well as some civilian employees, have been donning uniforms and insignia exclusive to the Chadian National Army (ANT).

Officials have emphasized that violators will face disciplinary action. Heads of central and regional departments are tasked with ensuring strict enforcement of the ban, which takes immediate effect.
