Strengthening Morocco-France relations with shared future-focused initiatives

The French Embassy in Morocco hosted a high-profile reception in Rabat on July 14 to celebrate France‘s National Day. With over 1,500 attendees, Ambassador Philippe Lalliot highlighted the evolving, forward-looking partnership between the two nations.

«From Rabat to Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune—where I recently inaugurated the city’s first Alliance Française—our collaboration isn’t just about envisioning the future; it’s about building it, step by step,» Lalliot remarked, joined by Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco‘s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, representing the government.

The ambassador emphasized the broad scope of MoroccoFrance cooperation, referencing President Emmanuel Macron’s July 2024 letter to King Mohammed VI. In it, Paris reaffirmed its support for Morocco‘s sovereignty over the Sahara, aligning with the nation’s vision for regional stability. «Our diplomacies work in tandem to uphold core international principles and multilateral frameworks,» Lalliot stated.

He also underscored France‘s role as Morocco‘s top foreign investor and employer, with French enterprises playing a pivotal role in shaping Morocco‘s industrial growth for over a decade. Looking ahead, he outlined key priorities: «addressing global challenges together, strengthening security, aligning on tomorrow’s economic sectors, and fostering deeper societal ties—especially among the youth, who represent the future of our bilateral relationship.»

The ambassador celebrated the «deep human connection» between the peoples of Morocco and France, a bond further enriched by the dynamism of their diasporas.
