Senegalese president replaces top officials aligned with sonko

In a continued effort to reshape the leadership landscape, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has initiated a fresh round of high-profile dismissals within key state institutions. This second wave of removals targets officials previously associated with Ousmane Sonko’s political circle.

The most notable change involves the Port autonome de Dakar, where Waly Diouf Bodiang, a prominent figure in the Pastef party, has been relieved of his duties. He is succeeded by Doune Pathé Mbengue, a former activist from the Apr movement. This move signals a strategic shift in port governance, emphasizing alignment with the current administration’s priorities.

Another key figure to face removal is Babo Amadou Ba, the national coordinator of Pastef cadres and head of the Fonds de financement de la formation professionnelle et technique (3FPT). His position has been filled by Soulèye Kane, marking another step toward consolidating new leadership within the agency.

In Touba, Lamine Barra Lô, a Pastef affiliate and director of the Office national de la formation professionnelle (ONFP), has also been replaced. Mame Awa Ndoye now takes the helm of the institution, further reinforcing the president’s vision for the sector.

The latest reshuffle extends to the SEN-Pharmacie nationale d’approvisionnement, where Karamba Diallo has been appointed to lead the agency. His predecessor, Seydou Diallo—known for his strong ties to Sonko and his role as a Pastef leader in Keur Massar—has exited the position.
