Gabon celebrates leadership as RPM highlights president’s achievements

The Rally for Homeland and Modernity (RPM), a key member of Gabon’s ruling coalition, has praised President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for his dedicated service to the nation between August 9 and 30, as outlined in an official statement signed by party spokesperson Etienne Francky Meba Ondo.

In a communiqué titled “From action to results,” the political group commended the president’s commitment to advancing healthcare, alongside tangible achievements such as his visible presence across the country and efforts to develop rural regions.

The RPM specifically highlighted a 55 billion CFA franc investment in healthcare, announced on August 30 in Makokou. This funding includes 44 billion for upgrading national medical infrastructure, 6 billion to reopen canteens in hospitals, and 5 billion to support the National Health and Social Security Fund (CNAMGS). The party hailed these measures as addressing critical public concerns and urged swift implementation to ensure tangible benefits for citizens.

Additionally, the RPM noted the inauguration of multiple health, commercial, administrative, and defense facilities in Greater Libreville, as well as 17 strategic projects in Ogooué-Ivindo Province during late-August celebrations in Makokou. The party also pointed to the Mayiga residential housing initiative, with 50 units completed, 25 under construction, and plans for 500 plots to expand development beyond the capital.

The statement tied these efforts to Gabon’s 66th Independence Day and the third anniversary of the Liberation coup, echoing the president’s call to shift from “the era of promises to the era of proof.” The RPM emphasized that the true measure of success lies in concrete improvements to daily life for Gabonese citizens.

The communiqué also welcomed the visit of Democratic Republic of the Congo President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, which resulted in three bilateral cooperation agreements.

The RPM, led by Vice President Alexandre Barro Chambrier, reiterated its unwavering support for national unity and modernization initiatives. The party, which backed President Oligui Nguema in the April 12, 2025 election while maintaining political independence, holds three seats in the National Assembly.
