Khady Diène Gaye, former Sports Minister and fellow government colleague of Abdourahmane Diouf, has forcefully rejected the minister’s recent assertions about Ousmane Sonko’s alleged endorsement of a debt restructuring initiative. Gaye described her reaction as one of sheer astonishment upon hearing Diouf claim that the current National Assembly President, then serving as Prime Minister, had agreed to such a proposal.

In a scathing rebuttal, the Pastef party spokesperson dismissed Diouf’s statements as outright fabrications. She opened her counterattack with unfiltered candor: “Dramane’s failures are everywhere! Now, he’s resorting to grotesque lies!” Gaye went on to emphasize how deeply unsettling she found the minister’s attempt to pin the debt restructuring agreement on Sonko, calling it nothing short of preposterous.

Beyond challenging the factual accuracy of Diouf’s claims, Gaye also took aim at his personal and professional trajectory. She alleged that Diouf had repeatedly failed in his endeavors to return to public life, even going so far as to suggest he had unsuccessfully attempted to qualify for the bar exam between 2007 and 2008. This personal jab only amplified the intensity of her public response.

Additionally, Gaye criticized Diouf’s political motives, accusing him of prioritizing self-interest over the greater good. In her view, the minister had instrumentalized politics to serve himself rather than the nation. Concluding her fiery statement, she urged activists to remain steadfast in their commitment to Pastef’s vision, rallying “patriots from all walks of life” to stay focused on building a sovereign, prosperous, and equitable Senegal.
