Morocco joins international stabilization force in Gaza with landmark agreement
This legally binding document formalizes Morocco’s commitment to contribute actively through humanitarian and security initiatives, aiming to foster peace and stability in the region.
The signing of a historic agreement marked a significant milestone in Morocco’s diplomatic and security engagements. High-ranking officials from the Kingdom convened with representatives of the Gaza Peace Council and the International Stabilization Force (ISF) to finalize terms of participation.
The meeting, held at the headquarters of the National Defense Administration in Rabat, was attended by key military figures including the Supreme Chief and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), the Inspector General of the FAR, and the Commander of the Royal Gendarmerie.
The Moroccan delegation included Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, alongside Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of National Defense Administration.
The visiting delegation consisted of senior officials from the Gaza Peace Council and the Commander of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza.
This visit underscores the Kingdom’s commitment as a founding member of the Gaza Peace Council, aligning with the Royal directives announced during the inaugural meeting of the Council in Washington, D.C., under the presidency of former U.S. President Donald Trump.
At the heart of the discussions was the signing of the agreement formalizing Morocco’s participation in the ISF. This landmark document outlines the technical and operational framework for the Kingdom’s involvement, emphasizing concrete actions to enhance humanitarian aid and security measures in the region.
Morocco’s proven peacekeeping expertise highlighted
The Moroccan delegation emphasized that the Kingdom’s participation in the ISF reflects its unwavering dedication to peace, cooperation, and international solidarity. It reaffirmed Morocco’s role in promoting peace and security across the Middle East, leveraging its extensive experience in United Nations peacekeeping operations.
Morocco also highlighted its consistent regional and international engagement in fostering stability, with particular emphasis on Royal initiatives launched by His Majesty the King. These initiatives include regional integration projects that directly impact security and social progress.
In response, senior officials from the Gaza Peace Council and the ISF commended Morocco’s decision to join the peace initiative. They praised the Kingdom’s contributions, including the deployment of high-ranking officers from the FAR to the ISF’s joint command, personnel from the Royal Gendarmerie and the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN), and the establishment of a field military hospital.
Following productive discussions, both parties officially signed the agreement, solidifying Morocco’s commitment to the ISF’s mission. The document serves as the legal foundation for the Kingdom’s operational involvement, aiming to create a sustainable environment of peace and security in the region.
