Khalifa Sall of Taxawu Sénégal accuses ruling power of deceitful governance
Taxawu Sénégal, the political party led by Khalifa Sall, held its foundational congress this Sunday at Dakar’s Grand Théâtre, marking its official transition from a political platform to a fully structured party. The event drew an impressive turnout of militants, who arrived in force, waving party flags and chanting slogans in an atmosphere charged with political energy.
Unprecedented political backing and new alliances
Several high-profile political figures attended the congress, including Bamba Fall, Mayor of Médina, Alioune Ndoye, Mayor of Dakar-Plateau, and Aïssata Tall Sall. Other notable attendees included Oumar Sarr, Coordinator of the Front pour la République (FDR), and Me El Hadji Diouf alongside Zahara Kane Thiame and other prominent political leaders.
The organizing committee confirmed that six political parties and multiple movements have formally joined Taxawu Sénégal, signing the party’s constitutive act during the congress, solidifying its growing influence.
Khalifa Sall condemns the government’s mismanagement
In his closing speech, Khalifa Sall described the congress as a “landmark moment” in the party’s evolution. He painted a grim picture of the country’s current state, declaring that “Sénégal is digging deeper into the 20th basement”—a metaphor underscoring what he views as the depth of the nation’s challenges.
The Taxawu Sénégal leader did not hold back in his criticism of the ruling government, declaring: “They’re stuck in Baara Yegoo… but we see right through their game.” This statement was widely interpreted as a direct indictment of the administration’s governance.
A call for unity among opposition forces
Beyond his critique, Khalifa Sall urged opposition groups to prioritize trust and cohesion in their efforts to confront shared political challenges. He reflected on the movement’s journey—marked by struggles, victories, and political realignments—while praising the dedication of militants and allied forces who have joined the party.
