The Chadian Magistrates’ Syndicates (SMT and SYAMAT) convened an extraordinary general assembly on May 26, 2026, at the N’Djamena Palace of Justice. The meeting, held over a ten-day mandate, aimed to address pressing judicial matters and ensure the protection of magistrates’ rights.
On the same day, the Prime Minister met with syndicate representatives in the presence of the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, as well as the First President of the Supreme Court. The Prime Minister extended a formal government apology to the magistrates, emphasizing the need to strengthen institutional cohesion and mutual trust between state bodies.
The following day, the Minister of Justice and Human Rights held separate discussions with the syndicates. This was followed by a joint meeting with the Minister of Public Security and Immigration, again in the company of the First President of the Supreme Court. These talks focused on fostering consensus and resolving disputes through peaceful dialogue.
The Minister of Public Security also reiterated the government’s official apology to the magistrates. The syndicates acknowledged these gestures and commended the proactive efforts of the leadership to promote dialogue and stability within the judicial system.
