Algeria and Chad strengthen ties with infrastructure deal signed in N’Djamena
Algeria and Chad have inked a fresh agreement in N’Djamena to fast-track infrastructure projects and the trans-Saharan highway initiative, marking another milestone in bilateral cooperation. The deal, signed during a high-level coordination meeting, outlines streamlined procedures to accelerate public works and infrastructure developments between the two nations.
The landmark accord was formalized by Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, and Chad’s Minister of Infrastructure, Amir Idriss Kourda, on the second day of an Algerian delegation’s working visit to Chad. Key figures, including the Director-General of Algeria’s International Cooperation Agency for Solidarity and Development, the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, and senior executives from Cosider and the National Public Works Company (SNTP), attended the discussions. Chad’s Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and top officials were also present.
During the talks, Chad’s Infrastructure Minister highlighted the rapid progress being made in implementing the bilateral agreements, citing tangible advancements since their initial signing in April. He emphasized the collaborative efforts, including reciprocal technical visits and the launch of feasibility studies for the trans-Saharan highway project across Chad’s territory.
The new agreement underscores a shared commitment to deepening economic and logistical ties, with infrastructure development serving as a cornerstone of this strategic partnership.
