Pdci-rda advocates for immediate political dialogue on electoral body in Côte d’Ivoire

In Abidjan Cocody on July 7, 2026, Brédoumy Soumaïla, spokesperson for the PDCI-RDA, firmly reiterated his party’s unwavering position regarding the establishment of a consensual electoral body. He asserted that this crucial process necessitates direct political dialogue among the primary stakeholders, rather than a mere informational briefing session.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Party House, Soumaïla revealed that the PDCI-RDA had formally approached the government, urging the immediate commencement of such a dialogue. He underscored the historical lesson from Côte d’Ivoire’s recent past, asserting that sustainable peace and social cohesion, vital for robust African politics, are impossible without thorough consultation and engagement.

Soumaïla expressed significant disappointment regarding the head of government’s decision to invite political factions to an ‘information-only’ gathering, which he deemed utterly inadequate. He affirmed that the party would persistently advocate for an expanded negotiation framework, reiterating this demand as often as required to ensure fair processes.

Furthermore, the PDCI-RDA insists on the imperative revision of the electoral roll before the close of 2026, aligning with the provisions of the Electoral Code. Brédoumy strongly condemned the failure to conduct the scheduled 2025 revision, especially given that it had been fully funded by the state budget, yet no official explanation for its omission has been provided. He stressed, “The Ivorian taxpayers deserve a full account from the government regarding the expenditure and management of these allocated funds,” highlighting a critical aspect of governance Africa.

Concluding his remarks, the spokesperson declared, “The populace is appealing to the PDCI-RDA for assistance. This vital support will be delivered through President Cheick Tidjane Thiam, enabling the party to reclaim state power and dedicate it to fostering universal progress and individual well-being across Côte d’Ivoire.”
