Mali’s hadith memorization competition selects national champions for global stage
The Malian branch of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema successfully hosted the national pre-selection round for the third annual Hadith Nabawi Acharif memorization competition on Saturday, June 27, 2026. Held at the foundation’s headquarters in Banankabougou, the intense day-long event culminated in the selection of three exceptional candidates. These accomplished individuals will proudly represent Mali in the upcoming grand international final, where they will compete against laureates from 49 other nations.
This significant competition aligns directly with the directives issued by the Superior Council of the Mohammed VI Foundation of African Oulema. The national pre-selection phase brought together 50 dedicated candidates from various madrassas and Quran memorization centers, representing both the capital city of Bamako and regions across the interior of the country.
Through this impactful initiative, the foundation aims to inspire African youth to deeply engage with prophetic teachings. The core objective is to propagate the timeless values of tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and the cherished principle of the just middle path, all embedded within these sacred Islamic texts. This contributes positively to society Africa.
Competitors vied in three distinct categories: Ahmad Sow emerged victorious in Discipline 1, focusing on 40 Hadiths at the elementary level. Mouhamad Diallo secured the top prize in Discipline 2, which tested memorization of 30 Hadiths at an intermediate level. Finally, Boubacar Traoré claimed the award for Discipline 3, involving 30 Hadiths at the superior level.
