Gabonese political groups conclude national outreach, advocate unity

On Friday at Cité Damas, the Parti des 7 Merveilles du Peuple Gabonais (7MP) and the Mouvement Oligui Nguema 100% (MON 100%) unveiled the comprehensive findings of their recent national outreach. This extensive tour, conducted across all nine Gabonese provinces from June 4 to June 25, 2026, saw leaders of both organizations detail their key takeaways and outline future strategic directions during a press conference.

Led by Joël Ngoueneni Ndzengouma, who serves as both the founding president of 7MP and the president of MON 100%, the delegation actively engaged with communities, party activists, and local officials. The primary goals of this initiative were to gather citizen concerns and to assess Gabon’s social and political landscape following the 2025 presidential election, providing crucial insights into governance Africa.

Ndzengouma emphasized that the tour also played a vital role in strengthening the internal structures of both movements. “Since June 4, 2026,” he stated, “the 7MP and the MON 100% Movement have formally united their efforts, building upon the momentum established on February 8, 2025.” This consolidation highlights a significant development in African politics.

Throughout their journey, discussions frequently revolved around pressing issues voiced by the populace. These included critical matters such as youth employment, access to safe drinking water, the condition of national roadways, healthcare provisions, educational opportunities, and the ever-rising cost of living. Ndzengouma underscored their commitment, stating, “We sought out our fellow citizens to truly listen and understand the realities they face on the ground, reflecting the diverse society Africa represents.”

Furthermore, leaders from both organizations confirmed significant internal restructuring, including the overhaul of their provincial coordinations, updates to their member registries, and the successful recruitment of new adherents. The movement’s president elaborated, “This mission was instrumental in identifying fresh local leadership, cementing MON 100%’s presence across all nine provinces, and securing 1,000 new membership applications, a testament to growing Gabon political unity.”

The press conference drew a notable assembly of political figures, including Angélique Ngoma, Secretary-General of the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG), and Gervais Oniane, President of the Union for the Republic (UPR).

During his address, Oniane urged political parties to prioritize constructive dialogue and collaborative consultation. He stressed, “It is crucial for political factions to cooperate with a spirit of unity and shared responsibility, thereby supporting the significant transformations underway across the nation.” This call resonates with broader themes of African politics seeking stability and progress.

Concluding the gathering, the leadership of 7MP and MON 100% put forward a proposal for establishing a consultative platform. This proposed body would bring together all political parties backing the agenda of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, aiming to streamline coordination and foster greater cohesion among the various political formations.
