Gabon Poste app helps savers verify names without travel
On Tuesday, Gabon Poste’s Director General, Alfred Ikaka Bobe, announced that savers with frozen accounts can now verify their names on the liquidator’s lists using a new online application.
To check their names, savers can access the tool from any computer or smartphone by visiting the dedicated online platform.
Launched last Monday, the platform quickly became saturated after receiving approximately 10,000 visits in just a few hours.
“The tool has been updated and will be fully operational from Wednesday,” said Alfred Ikaka Bobe.
Savers are asked to confirm that they are still alive and to indicate the location where they wish to receive their payment. The service is also available for savers living abroad.
Only savers who have been properly registered by the liquidator but unfortunately lost their passbook need to visit a post office to obtain a new one.
It should be recalled that in 2017, PostBank SA, a subsidiary of the Poste, went bankrupt, freezing the savings of many individuals. After years of unfulfilled promises by the fallen regime of Ali Bongo Ondimba, the transition government in February 2025 signaled its determination to clear this debt.
Around 60,000 savers are affected. A sum of 31.212 billion CFA francs has been pledged to settle the liability over three years, with equal annual installments.
