Operation exposes sophisticated human trafficking network targeting Cameroonian youth

Under the guise of legitimate network marketing firms, the syndicate promised lucrative overseas employment to vulnerable job seekers

A coordinated crackdown in Cameroon has dismantled a clandestine human trafficking network that had ensnared dozens of young Cameroonians. Authorities arrested 13 individuals connected to the operation, which operated under the false banner of multi-level marketing companies including QNET, IGNITE, and UNIMEC.

The syndicate specifically targeted students, unemployed youth, and job seekers, luring them with false promises of high-paying employment opportunities abroad. According to official statements, two key suspects—believed to be operating from Congo and the Central African Republic—remain at large as investigations continue across multiple Cameroonian cities.

The operation was unveiled during a press briefing at Yaoundé’s National Gendarmerie headquarters. Atangana Fiacre Kisito, Deputy Director of the Central Coordination Unit of the National Gendarmerie, confirmed the arrests and outlined the scope of the investigation, which spans several regions in the country.

This case highlights the growing sophistication of human trafficking syndicates that exploit economic desperation and the aspirations of young Africans. Authorities are urging the public to verify employment offers through official channels and report suspicious activities to law enforcement.
