Championing democracy and governance: Cameroon Bar Association at Founders Museum launch in Yaoundé
The Cameroon Bar Association made a strong presence at the launch of the Founders Museum in Yaoundé, an exhibition organized by the U.S. Embassy to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American Independence. Led by key figures including Me Serges Martin Zangue, Secretary of the Bar, Me Adeline Fouegoum, Treasurer, and Me Philippe Memong, representing the Bâtonnier for the Centre, South, and East regions, the delegation underscored the event’s significance.
The highlight of the gathering was a panel discussion on democracy, governance, and the rule of law, bringing together academics, historians, and institutional leaders. Representing the Bar Association, Me Zangue emphasized the critical role of lawyers in safeguarding fundamental freedoms, advancing justice, and strengthening institutions. He also highlighted the enduring contributions of prominent figures within the Cameroon Bar to the consolidation of the rule of law over the decades.
Beyond academic discourse, the event fostered a deeper conversation on leadership, institutional excellence, and sustainable governance frameworks. Participants explored shared values and strategies to reinforce democratic mechanisms in a rapidly evolving landscape.
The Cameroon Bar Association commended the U.S. Embassy’s initiative and reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing collaboration. Both institutions are set to develop new projects focused on legal training, capacity building, and the promotion of the rule of law, marking a fresh chapter in their partnership.
