After conceding early through Inès Konan (30′), Algeria found themselves playing with a numerical advantage following Côte d’Ivoire’s Safi N’Sira Ouedraogo receiving a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on Algerian goalkeeper Chloé N’Gazi (42′).
Coming back from the break, Algeria equalized through substitute Inès Khiri (58′), who had replaced Lina Boussaha minutes earlier (46′). The Ivorian side nearly regained the lead from the penalty spot when Rebecca Elloh’s strike was denied by the crossbar (62′). Algeria sealed their triumph in the 64th minute through Amira Ould Braham, capitalizing on an error by Ivorian goalkeeper Aramatou Diakité.
Historic milestone and World Cup qualification
This quarter-final berth marks Algeria’s first-ever semifinal appearance in the Women’s Africa Cup.
