Women in Chad’s lac province unite against Boko Haram threats
In the embattled Lac Province, women have stepped forward as a united front following a surge in violence attributed to Boko Haram. On May 22, 2026, members of the Provincial Women’s Network in Baga-Sola publicly pledged unwavering support to the country’s defense and security forces, emphasizing the critical need for national unity in the face of escalating terrorist threats.
Led by the network’s president, Achta Adoum Abdoulaye, a delegation of women met with the Government Delegate for Lac Province, General Saleh Haggar Tidjani, at the Baga-Sola headquarters. Their mission was unequivocal: to reinforce morale, provide logistical and material assistance, and stand firmly behind the troops battling Boko Haram in the region.
In a statement delivered on behalf of all women in Lac Province, Achta Adoum Abdoulaye commended the tireless efforts of administrative and military authorities in curbing insecurity and safeguarding stability across the province. She forcefully condemned the recent terrorist attacks that resulted in the loss of lives among defense and security personnel, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and the entire nation.
To solidify their commitment, the delegation presented a donation of essential food supplies to the frontline troops actively engaged in counter-terrorism operations.
General Saleh Haggar Tidjani praised the women’s initiative as a powerful display of patriotism and underscored the indispensable role of women in fostering community resilience, social cohesion, and the fight against violent extremism.
