Presidential adviser Aldiouma Sow: Ousmane Sonko ‘betrayed our trust’

Aldiouma Sow, a prominent Minister-Counselor to the President of the Republic and coordinator for the political, civil society, and trade union sectors within the Presidential Cabinet, recently delivered a scathing critique of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko during his appearance on TFM’s “Infos Matin” program.

Addressing persistent criticisms leveled against the Prime Minister, Sow articulated a clear division in the trajectory of the Pastef party. “In Pastef’s history, two distinct phases emerge,” he explained. “Previously, the accusations against Ousmane Sonko originated from the opposition. At that time, we dismissed them as mere tactics in the political struggle. However, upon assuming power, we confronted the stark reality that these criticisms were, in fact, well-founded. Ousmane Sonko betrayed our trust. He had concealed his true character from us.” This statement offers a critical perspective on African politics and governance Africa.

When questioned about the dismissal of Fifi Diakhaté from MONCAP, Aldiouma Sow characterized such individuals as those who have consistently shown a disregard for established norms and organizational structures throughout their political careers. He further asserted, “Currently, the party’s leadership is being held captive by a small, ‘messianic’ faction, comprising just two or three individuals. They are operating the party in a manner that undermines its fundamental interests.” This highlights challenges within society Africa and party leadership.
