N’Djaména: cleaning operation begins in 7th district to clear public roads
In a decisive move to reclaim urban order, the municipal authority of N’Djaména’s 7th arrondissement has initiated a comprehensive road clearance operation along Avenue Taïwan. This initiative, launched on Monday, May 25th, targets the orderly restoration of public thoroughfares currently obstructed by unauthorized structures, street vendors encroaching on road space, and roaming livestock disrupting traffic flow.
Under the direct supervision of Mayor Adoum Hassan Djimet, the operation seeks to alleviate chronic congestion that has plagued the district, significantly contributing to traffic accidents and compromising pedestrian safety. Speaking to residents, the mayor emphasized the critical need for collective responsibility in maintaining clear pathways.
« Roads must remain accessible to all. I call on every resident of the 7th arrondissement to understand that change begins with individual behavior. Every day, lives are lost because reckless obstructions turn our streets into high-risk zones, » stated the mayor during the operation’s launch.
The municipal team has announced stringent enforcement measures against violators. Those found illegally occupying public spaces will face immediate removal of their goods, while stray animals will be confiscated to prevent further hazards. The mayor made it clear that compliance is non-negotiable, warning that repeated offenses will result in legal consequences.
