Hadj 2026: essential safety and conduct guidelines for Chadian pilgrims

Following the international conference on the Hadj held this Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in Jeddah, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has released a series of critical recommendations. These measures are designed to ensure the pilgrimage proceeds without incident. General Idriss Dokony Adiker, President of the National Office for the Organization of the Pilgrimage (ORGEP), led the Chadian delegation at this high-level meeting.

In an official briefing to Chadian pilgrims, ORGEP emphasized the necessity of adhering to Saudi regulations regarding safety, health, and general discipline. The office made it clear that certain behaviors will not be tolerated during the spiritual journey.

Prohibited activities and site discipline

A major focus of the new directives is the prohibition of political or partisan religious debates. Such discussions are strictly forbidden within hotels and at the sacred sites of Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah. Furthermore, any gatherings or activities of a political nature are entirely banned in these areas.

The organization also reminded travelers that housing unauthorized individuals is a violation of the rules. No pilgrim is permitted to host or welcome anyone not officially cleared to stay in the designated hotels or ritual locations.

Health precautions and weather safety

Given the extreme temperatures recorded in Saudi Arabia, health safety is a top priority. Authorities strongly advise pilgrims to remain indoors between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to avoid heat-related complications. To preserve physical stamina, long treks between ritual sites are also discouraged.

For those who are elderly, unwell, or physically limited, ORGEP noted that the ritual of stoning the pillars (Jamarat) can be performed by a proxy. This allows vulnerable individuals to fulfill their religious obligations without compromising their health.

Emergency assistance and final exhortation

Should any urgent issues or difficulties arise, pilgrims have been provided with a direct line for help. The Saudi authorities have established an assistance number, 1966, which should be contacted immediately in case of emergency.

By issuing these reminders, ORGEP aims to ensure that every Chadian citizen participating in the Hadj 2026 can do so in a secure, orderly, and spiritually fulfilling environment.
