President Bassirou Diomaye Faye recently hosted a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, led by its president, Odile Renaud-Basso.

Reports indicate that discussions centered on the institution’s ongoing projects within Senegal, alongside strategies to strengthen its partnership with Senegalese authorities.

EBRD’s strategic initiatives and projects

Having recently established its presence in Senegal, the EBRD has already initiated several key endeavors. These include the recruitment of local teams and substantial financial backing for projects across the water, energy, and private sector development domains.

Among the notable undertakings highlighted is the Grand Dakar desalination plant, a collaborative effort with ACWA Power, which aims to significantly enhance water supply for the greater Dakar region.

Furthermore, the institution is actively supporting projects focused on renewable energy and providing vital financing for initiatives within the national private sector.

During the meeting, the EBRD affirmed its commitment to deepening its involvement in Senegal, aligning its efforts with the strategic directions outlined in Vision Sénégal 2050.
