Chad firmly denies accusations of destabilizing Central African Republic
The spokesperson for Chad’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Adam Mahamat, has once again refuted claims that N’Djamena is plotting to destabilize the Central African Republic (CAR).
Over the weekend, the Chadian diplomatic corps dismissed these allegations as part of a smear campaign designed to tarnish Chad’s reputation and strain its relations with its neighbor.
In a strongly worded statement, the ministry condemned the misinformation tactics and urged those spreading them to act responsibly while calling on media outlets and social media users to rely on verified facts.
Chad has never been, nor will it ever be, involved in any subversive activities against a fellow African state, the Foreign Affairs Department emphasized, underscoring the country’s commitment to regional stability.
President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno places high importance on sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference, stating that Chad’s stability is intrinsically linked to that of the broader subregion, the ministry added.
The Chadian government frequently faces accusations from neighboring Central and East African nations of supporting armed groups operating beyond its borders, including the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which have been engaged in conflict with Sudanese military forces since April 15, 2023.
