Boko haram regains strength in lake Chad region amid Chad military losses

Chad’s President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno delivered a resolute pledge on social media, declaring: “Our counteroffensive will press on with unwavering resolve until Boko Haram’s threat is entirely eliminated.” The statement followed a brutal daylight assault the previous afternoon, when fighters from the jihadist faction launched a coordinated strike on Barka Tolorom military base, situated on the Chadian shoreline of Lake Chad. The raid left twenty-four soldiers dead in its wake.
