Strasbourg’s failed Ibrahima Ba deal sparks agent’s accusation
After failed Ibrahima Ba transfer, agent levels serious charges at Strasbourg
The Senegalese defender’s move to Racing Club de Strasbourg collapsed at the last minute on Saturday. His representative dismisses claims of a failed medical test, pointing instead to contractual disputes.
The proposed transfer of Senegalese defender Ibrahima Ba to Racing Club de Strasbourg appeared all but finalized late last week. Yet by Saturday, the deal had collapsed without explanation—initially attributed to a failed medical examination.
That explanation has now been directly challenged by Ba’s agent. In a cryptic overnight message on Instagram, the representative declared: “I will not allow anyone to lie when it comes to my player.”
“A 33 % annual salary cut was presented without warning”
The agent, identified only as Alioune, expanded on the allegations Saturday morning. “When the contract was presented, we discovered a 33 % reduction in the annual salary compared with the agreed terms. Lies ascended the elevator while truth descended the stairs,” he charged.
“After four to five hours of medical tests, we were informed everything was satisfactory and that the player would proceed to media duties. It was only after we refused to sign a contract with the reduced salary that the club suddenly raised health concerns. After hours of waiting, we returned to Portugal. The moment we made that decision, reports claimed Ba had failed his medical—completely false,” he continued.
Directing further criticism at Racing Club de Strasbourg—which recently incurred a UEFA fine for excessive spending—Alioune remarked: “If financial fair play lands you with a heavy fine, that is not our responsibility.”
Recent precedent: Julio Enciso’s rollercoaster
Is Ba’s transfer now definitively off the table? The situation appears conclusive, yet history suggests otherwise. Last summer, Julio Enciso experienced medical complications before ultimately joining the Alsatian club weeks later.
