Pierre Emmanuel Binyam: kamto’s resignation was a mission, not a departure
The newly appointed head of the Clarification and Restoration Commission set up by Maurice Kamto spoke on the STV program “Entretien avec”.
Pierre Emmanuel Binyam addressed the departure of Maurice Kamto from his party to join Manidem and secure the nomination for the 2026 presidential race — a candidacy that was ultimately rejected.
“President Maurice Kamto’s resignation from the party was not a resignation in the sense of turning his back on the party. We sent him to carry out a mission. Now, after what happened, he has returned. We asked him to come back and complete his term,” Binyam stated.
The member of the Movement for the Rebirth of Cameroon (MRC) stressed that Kamto’s elimination was a severe ordeal for party members.
“The rejection of Maurice Kamto’s candidacy deeply affected us. We were profoundly impacted by the removal of our candidate from this election, especially since all polls, both nationally and internationally, showed him as the clear winner,” Binyam added.
