Dja river bridge construction accelerates in southern Cameroon

As of June 20, 2026, the most significant progress in the project concerns the near-completion of the bridge supports. Teams from CHINA HARBOUR ENGINEERING COMPANY CAMEROUN are working intensively to finish the structure.

In addition, supplementary geotechnical studies are underway, and detailed execution plans are 60% complete. All 20 piles have been finished, and work has started on the access road on the Bissombo side, including reinforcement of the culvert headwalls at PK 0+669, placement of replacement material after excavation at culvert PK 0+818, and crushing of 0/250 aggregates.

The project involves building a 90-metre bridge and 3 kilometres of approach roads. Once completed, it will help structure the Assok-to-Ngombo axis in the Déjà and Lobo department of the South region. The total cost of the Dja bridge project is estimated at 10,530,686,344 FCFA inclusive of taxes.

In addition to the bridge, 1,000 metres of access roads will be developed – 500 metres on each side – featuring a two-lane carriageway 7 metres wide with 1.5-metre shoulders surfaced with a double-layer surface dressing. The project also includes drainage structures: two culverts of 2×2.00×1.50 metres, two culverts of 2×2.00×2.00 metres, and construction of an access dike along the riverbanks.
