Mali military reports major gains against armed groups in northern regions

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) have announced substantial progress in their military operations against armed groups in the northern regions of Anfif and Tabrachat. In a coordinated effort with allied forces, operations conducted on Tuesday resulted in the neutralization of over a hundred fighters linked to the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) and the Azauad Liberation Front (FLA).

According to an official statement, the military carried out 13 precision airstrikes, which not only targeted enemy combatants but also destroyed six armored vehicles and a pickup truck. The operations underscore the FAMA’s ongoing commitment to dismantling armed factions operating across the country, with a focus on maintaining strict discipline and operational integrity in coordination with partner forces.

The African Corps confirmed the success of these missions, highlighting the destruction of multiple militant vehicles and the use of drone technology to target an additional vehicle suspected of transporting ammunition and military supplies. Their statement emphasized the effectiveness of the joint efforts with the FAMA, describing the operations as highly productive in degrading the capabilities of armed groups in the region.

The Russian Africa Corps also weighed in, affirming that these operations were part of a broader, successful strategy of joint military action with the Malian army. They reiterated their resolve to continue disrupting militant activities by systematically targeting their positions and logistical assets.
