Côte d’Ivoire secures $80 billion in investment for 2026-2030 development plan
Alassane Ouattara, President of Côte d’Ivoire, expressed his satisfaction with the unprecedented financial mobilization achieved during the recent Consultative Group meeting for the National Development Plan (NDP) 2026-2030. Held in Abidjan on July 8-9, the event brought together over 2,000 investors from 49 countries, showcasing strong international confidence in the country’s economic fundamentals and development trajectory.
The high-level participants included representatives from financial institutions, investment funds, banks, employers’ organizations, public and private enterprises, as well as key development partners. Together, they pledged commitments totaling $80 billion, equivalent to 47,820 billion West African CFA francs—nearly four times the initial target of 11,138.2 billion F CFA.
With a total investment volume of 114,838.5 billion F CFA (approximately $209 billion) over five years, the NDP 2026-2030 aims to propel Côte d’Ivoire into the upper-middle-income bracket by 2030. The plan is heavily driven by the private sector, accounting for 70.2% of funding, reflecting its pivotal role in economic and social transformation.
The six strategic priorities outlined in the NDP include reinforcing peace, security, and stability; boosting agriculture and agro-industry; fostering private sector growth and industrialization; investing in human capital; developing critical infrastructure; and enhancing governance while modernizing the state. These priorities are designed to create tangible benefits for all Ivoirians, including improved access to education, healthcare, and employment opportunities.
Ouattara emphasized the government’s commitment to translating these financial commitments into concrete results—building more schools, hospitals, and roads, while creating jobs and fostering shared prosperity. The President concluded by urging collective action, stating, “Together, with confidence, determination, and unity, we will continue building a Côte d’Ivoire that is ever more prosperous and united.”
