Benin cabinet meetings set for first Wednesday of each month

During its inaugural gathering on May 28, 2026, under the leadership of President Romuald Wadagni, Benin’s government outlined the strategic priorities that will guide national policies through 2033.

President Wadagni emphasized the government’s commitment to transparent, responsible governance as the foundation for equitable development. The administration’s guiding principles—integrity, accountability, solidarity, and efficiency—will shape policies aimed at rebuilding public trust in state institutions.

Key objectives for the seven-year term include eradicating extreme poverty, narrowing social and regional disparities, and strengthening national security. A balanced development approach will prioritize fair distribution of public funds across all regions to ensure no area is left behind.

The first meeting also introduced a streamlined executive framework designed to enhance inter-ministerial coordination and accelerate decision-making processes.

Moving forward, cabinet sessions will convene regularly on the first Wednesday of every month. Meanwhile, inter-ministerial committees will meet twice monthly—on the first and third Mondays—while ministerial cabinet meetings will be scheduled as needed by individual departments.

This inaugural session marks the official launch of Benin’s 2026-2033 administration, with a clear mandate to uphold institutional discipline, deliver measurable results, and address pressing citizen needs.
