Yan Diomandé’s PSG transfer could accelerate faster than anticipated

While he seemed close to committing to Liverpool, Yan Diomandé ultimately chose to sign with PSG. That strong decision is allowing the Parisian club to move quickly on this deal — so much so that the transfer might be finalised sooner than expected, even before that of Maghnes Akliouche.

This could be one of the summer transfer windows’ biggest moves. PSG appears to have taken the lead in signing Yan Diomandé from RB Leipzig. The winger, currently shining with Côte d’Ivoire at the World Cup, reportedly chose to join the Parisian club despite strong interest from Liverpool, which had already submitted two offers exceeding €100 million to the German side. Now, with the player’s desire on their side, PSG will accelerate negotiations with RB Leipzig to reach an agreement.

PSG confident about Diomandé deal

PSG is very confident about its ability to finalise the transfer of Yan Diomandé. Thanks to strong relationships with Oliver Mintzlaff, chairman of the supervisory board at RB Leipzig, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi reportedly believes the transaction can be wrapped up quickly. The Ivorian could even become PSG‘s first summer signing, ahead of Maghnes Akliouche, for whom discussions had appeared more advanced. In other words, an official announcement could arrive within days.

Will this be PSG’s first transfer of the summer?

In the meantime, Yan Diomandé can focus on the World Cup and the round-of-16 match awaiting Côte d’Ivoire against Norway. But after the tournament, he could fulfill his dream by signing with PSG. “My future? I have a team handling that. I try to stay as focused as possible. I have loved PSG since I was a kid. I think my father was a PSG supporter. But I don’t project myself into the future; I stay focused on the World Cup. We’ll see what happens later,” he said on the sidelines of the friendly between France and the Elephants before the World Cup.
