World vision Tchad unveils bold 2030 roadmap for children’s future

World Vision Tchad has rolled out its ambitious national strategy for 2026-2030, designed to transform the lives of 3.29 million children across the country. The comprehensive plan merges humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding efforts to create lasting positive change.

Launching a transformative vision for Tchad’s children

In an official gathering that brought together media representatives, technical and financial partners, and national authorities in N’Djamena, World Vision Tchad unveiled its latest strategic roadmap. The initiative targets 3.29 million children by 2030, with 3.09 million of these being among the most vulnerable populations. The strategy focuses on critical sectors such as health, nutrition, education, child protection, and climate resilience.

A holistic approach to tackle deep-rooted challenges

Addressing the audience, Carla Dominique Denizard, World Vision’s Regional Director for West Africa based in Dakar, described the strategy as both bold and innovative. She highlighted its foundation in the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus, an integrated framework designed to bridge immediate relief efforts with long-term sustainable development and peacebuilding initiatives. Denizard emphasized that every child in Tchad deserves the opportunity to thrive, not just survive, and that achieving this requires robust partnerships, community engagement, and the inclusion of cultural and spiritual values.

The strategy aligns with continental and global frameworks, including the African Union’s Agenda 2063, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16), and Tchad’s Vision 2030. Key priorities include strengthening human capital, enhancing social protection, adapting to climate change, improving literacy through the Unlock Literacy program, and ensuring child protection.

Setting new benchmarks for impact

Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, National Director of World Vision Tchad, called the strategy launch a « historic milestone » for both the organization and the future of Tchad’s children. He noted that this roadmap represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to the previous cycle, reflecting a commitment to reach 3.29 million children, including 3.09 million of the most vulnerable. « Our goal is clear: to ensure every child in Tchad not only survives but thrives, » he stated.

Ngoy Wangoy also underscored the persistent challenges facing Tchad, including widespread poverty, malnutrition, recurring humanitarian crises, and the far-reaching effects of climate change. With nearly 42% of the population living below the poverty line, he stressed the urgent need for intensified efforts to support the most vulnerable communities.

Mobilizing collective action for sustainable change

The strategy outlines several key priorities: integrated nutrition and health programs with a focus on maternal and child health, literacy enhancement through Unlock Literacy to build foundational reading skills, protection of children from all forms of violence, and strengthening community resilience to climate impacts. The launch concluded with a call to action, urging public authorities, technical and financial partners, civil society organizations, religious and community leaders, and the media to collaborate closely. World Vision Tchad emphasized that collective mobilization is essential to turning current challenges into sustainable opportunities for the nation’s children.

By aligning with Vision 2030 and the SDGs, this strategy aims to build a future where every child in Tchad is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
