World Vision Tchad targets 3.29 million children by 2030
N’Djamena – World Vision Tchad has unveiled its bold five-year strategy (2026-2030) to transform the lives of 3.29 million children, with a special focus on the most vulnerable groups. The comprehensive plan integrates humanitarian aid, sustainable development, and peacebuilding to address the country’s most pressing challenges.
Strategic pillars for a transformative decade
The newly launched roadmap prioritizes five key sectors where World Vision Tchad will concentrate its efforts: health and nutrition, child protection, education, climate resilience, and peacebuilding. Through this integrated approach, the organization aims to create lasting change that goes beyond immediate relief, fostering sustainable progress across communities.
The strategy places particular emphasis on addressing the root causes of vulnerability, including chronic poverty affecting 42% of Chad’s population, recurring humanitarian crises, and the growing threat of climate change. By combining emergency assistance with long-term development initiatives, World Vision Tchad seeks to break the cycle of deprivation that has long constrained the country’s progress.
A collaborative vision for children’s futures
During the official launch event held at a N’Djamena hotel, regional director Carla Dominique Denizard outlined the transformative potential of this new initiative. She described it as “an ambitious and innovative plan that bridges humanitarian action, sustainable development, and peace consolidation”—an approach she called the “Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus.”
Denizard highlighted that the strategy aligns with Chad’s Vision 2030 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, while also supporting multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 13, and 16). She emphasized the importance of community engagement, cultural integration, and strong partnerships in achieving these ambitious targets.
The strategy’s education component features the Unlock Literacy program, designed to enhance early reading skills and create foundational learning opportunities for children across the country. Meanwhile, health interventions will focus on maternal and child nutrition, with targeted support for communities most affected by food insecurity.
National commitment to a brighter future
World Vision Tchad’s national director, Édouard Ngoy Wangoy, described the strategy launch as “a historic moment” for both the organization and the nation’s children. He noted that this five-year plan represents a 20% increase in ambition compared to previous cycles, reflecting the organization’s growing capacity and the urgency of the challenges facing Chad.
Wangoy stressed that the organization’s ultimate goal is to ensure every child in Chad doesn’t just survive, but thrives. “We’re not just fighting poverty—we’re building futures,” he stated. The strategy calls for collective action from government authorities, technical partners, financial backers, civil society organizations, religious leaders, and media outlets to ensure its successful implementation.
As World Vision Tchad embarks on this ambitious journey, the organization has called for unified efforts to turn current challenges into sustainable opportunities. The 2026-2030 strategy represents more than just a plan—it’s a commitment to building a nation where every child is protected, nourished, educated, and empowered to reach their full potential.
