In a formal statement released on Wednesday, June 24, in Kinshasa, the human rights advocacy group expressed profound concern that the prevailing environment could exacerbate existing tensions, potentially leading to increased human rights violations if immediate measures for appeasement are not implemented.
President Tshisekedi’s Pivotal Role
The VSV underscored President Tshisekedi’s unique and central position as the most effective figure to foster calm and safeguard national unity. This responsibility is particularly critical given the persistent insecurity plaguing the Eastern regions of the country, a challenge that continues to destabilize the nation’s fabric.
