Tchad: new media training partnership launched by ISJCT and AMET
Chad’s media landscape gets a boost with ISJCT-AMET training partnership
Chad’s leading journalism institute partners with the national online media association to launch a transformative initiative aimed at elevating media standards through professional training and student internships.
N’Djamena, August 6, 2026 – Chad’s media sector is set for a major transformation with the signing of a groundbreaking partnership between the Institut Supérieur du Journalisme et de la Communication du Tchad (ISJCT) and the Association des Médias en Ligne du Tchad (AMET). This collaboration bridges the gap between academic training and professional media practice, laying the foundation for sustainable improvements in journalism standards across the country.
The agreement outlines concrete measures including mandatory internships for ISJCT students within AMET-affiliated media outlets, providing hands-on professional experience that accelerates career readiness. In return, the partnership amplifies ISJCT’s visibility through the association’s extensive network of media professionals.
Comprehensive training program launched for media professionals
The partnership introduces an ambitious professional development initiative targeting journalists, editors, media managers and newsroom leaders. The training curriculum addresses critical modern challenges including:
- Emerging journalistic practices and digital transformation
- Digital journalism and multimedia storytelling
- Advanced fact-checking and verification techniques
- Newsroom management and operational efficiency
- Media business models and sustainability
- Artificial intelligence applications in journalism
- Ethical standards and professional conduct
- Journalist safety protocols and risk mitigation
Stakeholders highlight partnership benefits
Mahamat Mamadou Djimtebaye, representing the ISJCT project, emphasized the strategic importance of this collaboration: «No journalism school can thrive in isolation from the industry it serves. Professional media outlets are our essential partners in education, our primary training grounds, and the future employers of our graduates.»
Bello Bakary Mana, President of AMET, welcomed the initiative as a win-win solution: «This partnership gives our member organizations a direct role in shaping the next generation of journalists while providing our professionals with unprecedented opportunities to upgrade their skills. With ISJCT, the path to media excellence is finally within reach.»
Building a media education hub in Chad
The ISJCT project, supported by the Swiss Cooperation, GIZ and DW Akademie through the MEDEV NGO, will welcome its first cohort of students in October 2026. The institute aims to establish itself as a regional center of excellence offering comprehensive training in journalism, communication and media management, while fostering research, innovation and continuous professional development.
The ISJCT represents Chad’s first specialized higher education institution dedicated to training the next generation of media professionals in journalism, strategic communication and media organizational leadership.
