Ousmane Sonko has made a firm declaration through a fresh social media update.
In this latest announcement, the PASTEF-Les Patriotes leader revealed that discussions were held with the President of the Republic. However, these talks failed to resolve key disagreements.
«This morning, a lengthy meeting took place between the President of the Republic and President Ousmane Sonko. While some areas of agreement were identified, significant disagreements remain—particularly concerning the role and position of the majority within the executive framework, whose structure remains unclear,» Sonko stated.
«As a result, PASTEF-Les Patriotes will not participate in the next government and will not be represented by any ministers,» the statement concluded.
PASTEF Executive Committee statement
Acting in a spirit of responsibility and in line with the commitments of the PASTEF Executive Committee (COMEX), reiterated by President Ousmane Sonko during his parliamentary installation, the party engaged in extensive discussions with the President of the Republic regarding the formation of the new government.
