Mali army claims major operation against armed groups in northern regions

The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) reported on Thursday that coordinated military operations, conducted with allied support, resulted in the elimination of nearly a hundred armed fighters in the northern regions of Anfif and Tabrachat.

According to the official statement, the targets included members of the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) and the Azavad Liberation Front (FLA). The operations included 13 airstrikes that successfully destroyed six combat vehicles alongside a pickup truck, disrupting militant logistics in the area.

Military officials confirmed that these operations took place on Tuesday and are part of an ongoing counter-insurgency campaign across multiple regions. The statement emphasized the armed forces’ commitment to maintaining disciplined and resolute action in collaboration with international partners to dismantle armed groups.

The Russian Africa Corps, in a separate statement on the platform X, confirmed the destruction of numerous militant vehicles through both ground and aerial strikes. Their forces reportedly deployed a drone to target a vehicle carrying military equipment and ammunition, further crippling the operational capacity of the insurgents.

The Russian Africa Corps described the joint operations as highly effective, reaffirming their continued support for the Malian army in targeting militant positions and equipment to ensure regional stability.
