Ivorian foreign minister reaffirms support for Morocco’s african initiatives

During a meeting in Rabat on Thursday, Côte d’Ivoire’s Foreign Minister Kacou Adom renewed his country’s commitment to backing Morocco’s royal initiatives aimed at advancing Africa’s development.

«Côte d’Ivoire fully endorses these initiatives and stands alongside Morocco to ensure their successful implementation in alignment with His Majesty’s vision», Adom stated after concluding discussions with his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.

Adom also highlighted the dynamic nature of Moroccan-Ivorian cooperation, emphasizing the role of «the robust private sector in Morocco, which actively contributes to Côte d’Ivoire’s economic growth and nation-building efforts».

The Ivorian diplomat added that both nations agreed to reconvene soon to «review the progress of the economic steering group, ensuring it becomes even more impactful and propels us toward greater achievements».

Echoing these sentiments, Morocco’s Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita expressed gratitude for Côte d’Ivoire’s unwavering stance on the Moroccan Sahara issue. «Côte d’Ivoire has consistently been a strong partner and ally of Morocco on this vital matter for the Kingdom», he affirmed.

Bourita further noted that «this position has always been met with deep appreciation and respect from His Majesty the King, the Moroccan people, and all sectors of society».

«Your country stands as a key bilateral partner for the Kingdom of Morocco, a benchmark partner across Africa», he added with enthusiasm.

He also recognized Côte d’Ivoire’s pivotal role in regional initiatives, including the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project, which His Majesty the King has prioritized. Bourita confirmed that «this transformative project is advancing toward implementation, particularly after the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) leaders endorsed the intergovernmental agreement establishing the pipeline».

The Rabat-Abidjan partnership continues to deepen, spanning political, economic, and regional collaboration. With Côte d’Ivoire’s steadfast support for Morocco’s Sahara sovereignty, robust bilateral cooperation, and alignment with royal African initiatives, the country remains one of Morocco’s most trusted allies on the continent.
