The French football club released an official statement on Monday, expressing its firm disapproval of the incidents that marred the final match of the season. The Ligue 1 Professional Football League (LFP) has since taken the case under consideration and will deliberate on May 27.
«While FC Nantes acknowledges the deep distress and frustration stemming from a season marked by extreme challenges and sporting relegation, the club’s values, history, and identity cannot be compromised by such actions, » the statement read. «Anger and disappointment do not justify the presence of hooded individuals storming the pitch at the Stade de la Beaujoire, creating an environment of intimidation and tension. A football stadium must remain a space that is welcoming, festive, and secure for everyone. »
Nantes calls for unity, calm, and respect
The club extended its gratitude to the «vast majority of supporters» who maintained their composure despite the circumstances, as well as to the security teams and authorities deployed throughout the evening. FC Nantes affirmed it would fully cooperate with authorities, the LFP, and state services to ensure full transparency and accountability for the events. The club concluded by urging supporters to embrace «unity, calm, and respect» to prepare for the upcoming season under the best possible conditions.
