CMA CGM backs Senegal’s Ndayane port as strategic logistics hub
The Port of Ndayane is emerging as a game-changer for Senegal’s economic and trade ambitions, with global logistics leader CMA CGM reaffirming its strong support for the project. During discussions in Nairobi on the sidelines of the Africa Forward Forum, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye met with Rodolphe Saadé, CEO of the French shipping giant, to explore how this infrastructure will position Senegal as a key logistics hub on Africa’s Atlantic coast.
This visionary port project, coupled with its upcoming Special Economic Zone, is expected to unlock multiple benefits for the country. Among the most significant are sustainable job creation, enhanced trade flows, and a boost to national revenue streams. The initiative aligns with Senegal’s broader strategy to strengthen its role in regional and global supply chains.
With operations spanning over 170 countries and a fleet of nearly 700 container vessels, CMA CGM has pledged its commitment to supporting Senegal’s economic transformation. The collaboration underscores the potential of the Port of Ndayane to drive long-term growth, foster cross-border commerce, and solidify Senegal’s position as a leading logistics gateway in West Africa.
