Chad prepares groundbreaking digital transformation for vocational training

On thursday, july 10, 2026, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Vocational Training convened a landmark national workshop in N’Djamena to validate the groundwork for the country’s first-ever digital transformation strategy in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). The event brought together sector leaders, educators and industry stakeholders to review, refine and endorse a comprehensive situational analysis that will underpin the future digital policy for Chad’s TVET system.

The initiative aligns with the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation of TVET Systems, supported by UNESCO, OIF, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the GIZ-SIFA program. Its core mission is to spearhead a sustainable modernization of Chad’s technical and vocational education, ensuring it meets the demands of today’s technology-driven job market.

To compile the preliminary assessment, more than 200 participants from 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (TVTCs) and supporting institutions contributed through extensive field missions and digital surveys spanning all seven national academies.

During the opening ceremony, Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics and Digitalization, representing the State Secretary for Higher Education, emphasized that digital transformation has become a cornerstone of national development. He highlighted the government’s commitment to leveraging technology as a catalyst for modernizing TVET and aligning it with emerging economic opportunities.

The diagnostic report reveals both significant progress and critical challenges across governance, digital infrastructure, internet connectivity, reliable power supply, teacher training and the integration of digital literacy into curricula. Dr. Gabriel urged stakeholders to contribute their expertise to refine the document into a pragmatic, inclusive and nationally tailored strategy.

Once validated, the report will serve as the foundation for drafting Chad’s National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET and its corresponding operational action plan for 2026–2030. The ultimate goal is to equip Chad with a state-of-the-art vocational training system that is both high-performing and responsive to labor market needs.
