Butembo-Beni bishop warns of dangerous gap between politicians and people in DRC

In a message signed in memory of martyrs Charles Lwanga and his companions, Bishop Sikuli Paluku Melchisédech of Butembo-Beni in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo addressed a strong appeal to Congolese authorities following the worsening security and social situation in his diocese. The bishop noted with bitterness “a disconnect between the concerns of politicians and the real, legitimate needs of Congolese people.”
