Two compromise formulas are being evaluated: one involving €70 million in fixed payments with reduced performance-related bonuses, and another proposing €65 million upfront with €15 million in performance-linked add-ons.

Crucially, Rodri has made his intentions clear—he is determined to leave England and prioritizes a move to Barcelona. With Real Madrid’s previously reported interest now firmly off the table, the midfielder’s stance has given the Blaugrana a significant psychological edge in the talks.

Laporta steps in to finalize details

Rodri recently returned to England to resume pre-season training with Manchester City after requesting a brief pause to resolve his future. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his immediate plans, he is expected to regain match fitness with City, though his stay in Manchester may be short-lived.

While Barcelona acknowledges that City’s valuation is on the higher side, given Rodri’s contract has just one year remaining, the Catalan club is prepared to meet the English side’s financial demands to secure an immediate agreement.
