Acting on direct instructions from President Ibrahim Traoré, Mahamadou Sana, the Minister of Security, embarked on a comprehensive tour of Burkina Faso’s Nayala province this past Sunday. The primary objective of this high-level mission was to thoroughly evaluate the evolving security landscape, offer encouragement to the dedicated forces deployed in the field, and directly gather the concerns and perspectives of the local populations. Accompanied by the Governor of the Bankui region and various local administrative authorities, the Minister’s itinerary began with a crucial meeting with the customary leaders in Toma. Following this, he engaged in discussions with administrative officials and heads of provincial services, fostering vital dialogue on the region’s challenges and progress.

During these extensive exchanges, several persistent challenges came to light, particularly within the crucial sectors of health and education. Difficulties related to the mobility of public agents in certain localities also emerged as a significant point of concern for the local communities.

Minister Sana also held direct meetings with the Forces de défense et de sécurité (FDS), the Volontaires pour la défense de la patrie (VDP), the Dozos, and other vital community stakeholders across the province. He conveyed the profound congratulations from President Traoré and the entire government, acknowledging their commendable achievements in enhancing security and facilitating the gradual return of residents to numerous villages previously impacted by instability. This demonstrates a proactive approach to African politics and national stability.

The Minister paid heartfelt tribute to the unwavering courage, steadfast commitment, and professionalism displayed by the combatant forces. He urged them to maintain their high levels of vigilance, discipline, and cohesion, emphasizing these qualities are paramount for continued success. In the communes of Kougny and Gassan, residents openly expressed their deep satisfaction with the concerted efforts undertaken by the authorities to restore security and facilitate the resettlement of their villages, marking a significant step towards normalcy.
