Passing of maurice digbeu kipré, pioneer of ivorian insurance sector

Maurice Digbeu Kipré, the visionary founder and CEO of Serenity, a leading Ivorian insurance firm, passed away on Sunday, 17 May 2026, in Abidjan. He was 75 years old.

With a strong educational background in both Côte d’Ivoire and the United States, Kipré launched his professional journey in 1979 at American International Group (AIG), where he gained extensive expertise in the insurance industry.

In 1988, he took on a pivotal role as Director of Insurance within the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Côte d’Ivoire, contributing to the shaping of the country’s insurance policies. By 1993, he transitioned to CICA-RE, where he held leadership responsibilities until early 2008.

Recognizing the potential for growth in the sector, Kipré established Serenity in November 2008, a company that would soon become synonymous with innovation and reliability in Ivorian insurance. His legacy in the industry was further cemented through his involvement in key organizations, including the Regional Control Commission of CIMA, the Executive Committee of the African Insurance Organization (OAA), the Executive Board of the Federation of African National Insurance Companies (FANAF), and the Board of Directors of the International Insurance Institute of Yaoundé (IIA).
