The Kingdom of Morocco has emerged as a cornerstone of political, economic, and social progress, not only across Africa and the Arab world but also throughout the Mediterranean basin and on the global stage, declared Anissa Saysay, a German-Moroccan politician and member of Germany’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the party led by Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
In a recent interview marking the Throne Day celebrations, Mrs. Saysay highlighted how strategic modernization initiatives have positioned Morocco under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI as a beacon of stability, innovation, and international recognition.
She emphasized that this transformation stems from long-term strategic planning, with significant investments in infrastructure and a steadfast commitment to economic sovereignty. High-speed rail networks, expanded port facilities, cutting-edge industrial zones, and thriving automotive and aerospace sectors underscore the Kingdom’s disciplined approach to sustainable development.
Mrs. Saysay also underscored Morocco’s unique role as a cultural and geographical bridge between Europe, Africa, and the Arab world, a position that enhances its geopolitical and economic significance.
The country’s leadership in renewable energy further solidifies its status as a trailblazer in Africa and a key partner for Europe, she noted, particularly in the transition toward cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions.
On the social front, Mrs. Saysay praised Morocco’s advancements in universal healthcare access, education reform, gender equality, and social protection systems, all of which reflect the nation’s holistic approach to inclusive progress.
Turning to bilateral relations, she described Morocco-Germany ties as a model of cooperation, evolving into a robust partnership built on mutual trust. Morocco, she stated, serves as a reliable and dynamic partner in North Africa, prized for its stability and strategic location between the continents. For Germany, Morocco represents a vital ally in sectors ranging from advanced manufacturing and vocational training to climate action and sustainable development initiatives.
Mrs. Saysay stressed the importance of fostering a balanced, equitable partnership rooted in mutual respect, shared interests, and transparent dialogue. She pointed out that Moroccan-German communities play a pivotal role in this dynamic, acting as catalysts for investment, knowledge exchange, academic collaboration, and grassroots partnerships.
The dual-identity communities, she added, uniquely combine Germany’s institutional expertise and technological prowess with Morocco’s cultural vibrancy, regional networks, and entrepreneurial spirit.
