Several senior officials from the DGSN and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) were awarded prestigious Spanish honours. These decorations, issued by Spain’s Interior Minister, acknowledge their pivotal role in enhancing operational cooperation and technical assistance between the two nations.

The recognition serves as a testament to the strong strategic alliance between Morocco and Spain, reflecting Madrid’s appreciation for the professionalism and effectiveness of Moroccan security forces in addressing shared security challenges.

During the event, Lieutenant General Piñeiro emphasised the indispensable role of Morocco as a key partner in the fight against terrorism and organised crime. This latest round of honours follows the award of Spain’s Grand Cross of Civil Guard Merit to Abdellatif Hammouchi in November 2025, the country’s highest distinction. Hammouchi had previously been honoured in 2014 with the Police Merit Cross with Red Distinction, celebrating his long-standing contributions to exemplary security cooperation between the two countries.
