Military school in Niamey celebrates top-performing students

Niamey, June 4, 2026 — The Prytanée Militaire de Niamey (PMN) honored its most outstanding cadets on Thursday during a prestigious awards ceremony marking the close of the 2025-2026 academic year. Under the distinguished patronage of Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, General of Division Salaou Barmou, the event showcased the academic achievements of the military school’s elite students who excelled throughout the school year.

The ceremony recognized top-performing students across all grade levels, from sixth grade to the final year of secondary education. By celebrating these young achievers, school leaders emphasized the core values of merit, hard work, and discipline—principles deeply embedded in the institution’s educational philosophy.

Dignitaries from across Niger attended the event, including members of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP), the Vice-President of the Consultative Council for Refoundation (CCR), accredited diplomats and consular representatives, the Governor of the Niamey region, leaders from the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), as well as proud parents and other honored guests.

Outstanding academic results

The awards presented this year underscore the high academic standards upheld at the Prytanée Militaire de Niamey. The top performers demonstrated exceptional dedication and intellectual rigor.

In the lower secondary cycle, the leading student achieved an impressive average of 18.55 out of 20, while in the upper secondary cycle, the top scorer earned a 17.44 out of 20. Such results highlight not only the students’ commitment but also the high-quality guidance provided by the teaching staff and school leadership.

Honoring excellence for future leaders

Beyond the recognition of individual achievement, the ceremony serves as a powerful reminder of the values instilled in every cadet: excellence, civic duty, and military discipline. It inspires all students to continue striving for greatness in their academic, civic, and military pursuits.

The Prytanée Militaire de Niamey remains committed to shaping disciplined, skilled young leaders who will become the future pillars of Niger. By celebrating academic success, the institution reaffirms its role in building a generation dedicated to service, integrity, and national progress. These awards are not just a reward for past effort—they are a call to future generations to uphold the tradition of excellence and personal growth.
