Legal response from Sani Mouhamadou’s counsel refutes claims in rival counsel’s statement
In a formal right of reply, counsel for Sani Mouhamadou, Me Mélissa Nyoth, has categorically denied assertions made in a recent press release attributed to the legal team of Léopold Maxime Eko Eko. The statement, circulated widely on social media, alleges that Sani Mouhamadou had falsely implicated Cameroon’s Directorate General of External Research (DGRE) in contractual dealings during 2020.
The contested document claims that Sani Mouhamadou approached Léopold Maxime Eko Eko with service proposals, which were ultimately rejected due to a lack of verifiable credentials. It further denies any formal request for information or contractual engagement between the two parties. However, Sani Mouhamadou’s legal representative has now responded with a comprehensive rebuttal, asserting that no mention of Léopold Maxime Eko Eko was ever made in the original communication.
In the right of reply dated August 10, 2026, Me Nyoth explains that the initial press release was issued solely to correct misinformation after unverified videos circulated online on July 24 and 25, 2026. These videos allegedly misrepresented Sani Mouhamadou’s professional activities, prompting him to clarify his position publicly.
Crucially, the response includes documented evidence of a direct message sent by Léopold Maxime Eko Eko to Sani Mouhamadou on February 1, 2020, at 7:09 AM, in which he explicitly requested urgent assistance. This timestamped communication, along with Sani Mouhamadou’s certified expertise from the Institute of Advanced National Defense Studies, undermines the legal team’s claims of unilateral rejection or lack of prior engagement.
Following the circulation of the disputed press release, an informal amicable resolution was attempted to rectify the misattribution, but no corrective action has been taken. Sani Mouhamadou, while expressing respect for Léopold Maxime Eko Eko, has now issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the retraction of the defamatory statements. Failure to comply will result in the presentation of irrefutable evidence and the initiation of legal proceedings for defamation.
